For a number of years, the founding members had become disatisfied with the direction their then accountancy body was taking and decided there was a need for a new body that catered wholly and exclusively for the requirements of the small general accounting practitioner within the United Kingdom.
The Association of Incorporated Public Accountants (IPA) has been launched to cater specifically for the needs of the small United Kingdom based general accounting practitioner.
IPA General Secretary appointed.
IPA have announced the appointment of Kevin Henry BA (Hons), MBA, DMS., M.Ed., Cert.Ed., FPA as its new general secretary. Mr Henry was previously chief executive of the Certified Public Accountants Association which he built up into being the third largest body of accountants, in terms of practising firms, in the United Kingdom. He has previous experience as general secretary of the Society of Public Accountants and as chairman of the Association of Cost and Executive Accountants.
Recognition
The Association of Certified Management Accountants is the first body to grant recognition to the AIPA. Members of AIPA receive exemption, on a subject for subject basis, from the CMA's examinations.
The Confederation of Independent Accountancy Bodies (CIAB) has admitted the Association of Incorporated Accountants as a full corporate member. CIAB is an alternative organisation to CCAB for accountancy bodies.
The Association of Licensed Trade Accountants has come to a mutual goodwill accord with the Association of Incorporated Public Accountants. The two bodies aim to co-operate in the publishing Professional Accountant Maagazine, continuing professional education seminars, as well as other initiatives.
